WPI co-founded the Community Planning Assistance for Wildfire (CPAW) program in 2015 with Headwaters Economics. CPAW offers technical land use assistance to communities across the United States. Through the program, WPI delivers planning advice and recommendations to advise communities on integrating wildfire mitigation into local plans and regulations. Recommendations are tailored to each community’s needs. To date, 30 diverse communities from across the country have participated in the program including Ashland, OR, Austin, TX, Bemidji, MN, Bend, OR, Chelan County, WA, Deadwood, SD, Huerfano County, CO, Lewis and Clark County, MT, Mammoth Lakes, CA, Pigeon Forge, TN, and the Township of Ocean, NJ.
